Residential Collection Service

Residential service is service for any single-family (one unit) dwelling.

Residential can/bag service is offered once weekly at the alley or curb, whichever is appropriate.  Each single-family unit is allowed to put out four 32-gallon trash cans (full trash cans cannot exceed 70 pounds in weight) or four 32-gallon approved plastic bags. For more information, please refer to  AMC 26.70. All excess to the stated limit will be picked up and a $1.50 per unit fee will be charged to the account.

The charge for residential service is $18.25/month and is billed quarterly.  You should have your refuse out by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled day for collection.

This service was phased out in the fall of 2013 and replaced by Automated Collections. For additional information please visit the automated service page.

Additional Services

Customers can arrange for larger items to be picked up by calling Customer Service (343-6250) at least one day in advance of the scheduled pickup date.  An order will be sent with your collector that authorizes the additional charges to your account.  Some of the additional charges are:

  • $6.00 each for items such as one dishwasher, clothes washer, dryer, stove, or hot water heater (white goods).
  • $12.00 each for a couch, mattress, or box springs.

Miscellaneous items will be charged at $6.00 per cubic yard.  Brush should be cut in 4-ft lengths and be bundled and tied.  These prices are only valid for items picked up on the scheduled day of collection.  If a truck is dispatched on an unscheduled day, the cost is more.

Refrigerators and freezers must be taken to the Central Transfer Station or Anchorage Regional Landfill for disposal.  See White Goods on the How Do I Recycle...? page.
