​​​​Activity Guide

​​Twice a year, Anchorage Parks and Recreation publishes an activity guide to highlight programs and events for people of all ages. The Summer Guide includes summer and fall programs while the Winter Guide highlights winter and spring programs. Registration for activities is available through the ActiveNet registration system, or participants can register by phone or in person at all recreation facilities. 


Special Events

​​​​​Anchorage Parks and Recreation hosts many special events throughout the year that bring the community together and focus on the unique attributes of Alaska's largest city. View current event listings or sign up via the parks and recreation portal, ActiveNet. Below is a general list of special events happening around Anchorage in 2021-2022. ​

Additionally, Anchorage Parks and Recreation publishes the Alaska Runners Calendar each spring, with a listing of statewide running and walking events. More information can be found here.

Recreation Facilities ​

Anchorage Parks and Recreation manages two recreation centers, two outdoor centers, a community golf course, a greenhouse, and a campground. The recreation centers host a wide range of activities and progr​ams throughout the year. Registration is available online through the parks and recreation portal, ActiveNet, or by contacting centers directly.​

​Pools

The Municipality of Anchorage provides six indoor recreational and fitness pools, five in the Anchorage Bowl and one in Chugiak. Each pool offers a wide variety of programs like open swim, lap swim, swim lessons, swim teams, special events and water aerobics. ​
