TThe Property Appraisal Division is responsible for determining the property tax base for the Municipality of Anchorage. This work includes identifying, describing, and valuing all taxable real and personal property to ensure a fair and equitable basis for property taxation. The division also administers all property tax exemptions.

S
tate law requires municipalities that levy a property tax to assess most property at full and true value as of January 1 of the assessment year. For tax year 2026, the division maintains records for approximately 98,000 parcels of real property and 4,400 personal property accounts, representing about $59.8 billion in assessed value and $15.0 billion in exempt value, landing at a preliminary tax base of around $44.8 billion. Changes in property values and related topics are addressed in the 2026 Property Appraisal Annual Valuation Report.

Property values and descriptions are available through the "Search Properties"  link on this website. Property owners are encouraged to review their property information and, as required by state law, notify the Property Appraisal Division of any errors or omissions.
