Anchorage Fire Department maintains several social media accounts to share information about major fire events, public safety, and fire awareness tips.
Welcome to the Anchorage Fire Department, an ISO Class 1 public safety department responsible for providing all hazards prevention, education, and emergency response to the citizens and visitors of Anchorage.
Our mission and core value is “to serve our community before, during, and after an emergency”. It is the focus of all 390 Anchorage Fire Department employees. We are dedicated to delivering high level, professional service to improve the safety of the citizens and visitors we serve.
We are lucky to have dedicated support staff responsible for keeping the department’s vehicles, apparatus, information technology, finances and administration operating at optimum levels.
It is very important to prevent an emergency from occurring whenever possible. Our prevention and education efforts are delivered through the tremendous work of our fire prevention division, training center and operations division.
Our first responders staff 13 stations covering an area of 151 square miles and a 911 dispatch center. We responded to more than 36,000 incidents in 2017.
