Below are some things you can do to make earthquakes les​s impactful to your home and family:​

• Prepare a disaster supply kit - at home, at work, and for your car
  
• Attach large furniture to the walls
  
• Attach water heaters, washers, dryers and refrigerators to the wall.  They can move and break gas, electric and water lines
  
• Know how to turn off home gas, electricity and water
  
• Develop a plan for disasters
  
• Practice earthquake safety drills (Drop, Cover, Hold on)
  
• Have enough supplies for your family for 5 to 7 days after a disaster
  
• Learn f​irst aid and CPR
  
• Memorize phone numbers of your family​
  
• Learn how to open and close your garage door manually
