Amendments to Title 28, Elections Code, December 28, 2021
AO 2021-110(S), As Amended was approved by the Assembly on December 28, 2021, and includes amendments to Title 28, the municipal code section governing elections. The Assembly held public hearings on this ordinance on Tuesday, December 14, and Tuesday, December 21. The following document includes conforming amendments to the AO and Observer Manual authorized by AO 2021-110(S), As Amended, which is for approval before the Assembly on January 25, 2022.

On Monday, November 29, 2021, the Voter Address Verification Postcard was mailed to 239,534 registered voters in Anchorage in preparation for the April 5, 2022 Regular Municipal Election. The intent of this postcard is for voters to review their voter address information and make any needed corrections before the spring election. If all information on the postcard is correct, the ballot package for the April 5, 2022 election will be mailed to the voter's mailing address on the postcard. If any information needs to be updated, voters can update through the State of Alaska's Online Voter Registration website: voterregistration.alaska.gov.

Temporary Address Applications
Ballot packages will be mailed to qualified Anchorage voters no later than March 15, 2022. To receive your ballot package at an address other than your Voter Registration mailing address, please fill out an Application to Vote at a Temporary Address.
Filing for Office for the April 5, 2022 Regular Municipal Election opens on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. and closes on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
Both locations, MOA Election Center and Municipal Clerk's Office, will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2022, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
You may file at the Election Center, located at 619 East Ship Creek Avenue, Door D or at the Municipal Clerk's Office, located at 632 West 6th Avenue, Suite 250. Filing at Municipal Clerk's Office is by appointment only. Appointments at the Municipal Clerk's Office will be available from 9 a.m. - 12 noon, daily. Regular municipal elections are held in April and are Vote at Home elections. Traditional polling places will not be open and are not an option for voting on Election Day.
Ranked choice voting (statewide Ballot Measure 2) was approved by Alaska voters in the November 30, 2020 State of Alaska General Election. Ballot Measure 2 and ranked choice voting does not apply to the Municipality of Anchorage and the upcoming April 5, 2022 Regular Municipal Election.
The next Regular Municipal Election will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. The last day to register to vote or update your voter registration is Sunday, March 6, 2022, 30 days before the next regular municipal election.
It is important for your address information in the voter registration database to be current. The Municipality of Anchorage receives voter registration information from the State of Alaska, Division of Elections. In order to update your voter registration information or to be removed from the registration records, voters should contact the state Division of Elections at voterregistration.alaska.gov, (907) 522-8683, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
