History
Bonny Sosa was a longtime fitness advocate and founder/director of
Healthy Futures, an organization dedicated to inspiring youth to stay active every day. After her death, Bonny's name became attached to the Tuesday Night Race brand in 2008, passing on her can-do attitude, positive energy, and passion for life. A frontrunner for healthy living in the Anchorage community, Bonny was a friend to all, and her namesake event is now one of the most popular races in Alaska, with thousands of Anchorage residents and visitors flocking to designated parks and trails each week to participate.
2022 is the 54th year of Tuesday Night Races!
Races
The Bonny Sosa Tuesday Night Race Series is a fall tradition for many Anchorage families, as these fun runs are like no other in Anchorage. These races are rarely canceled, even when faced with rain, snow, sleet, hail, or wind.
Each Tuesday, starting at 6:30 p.m., three separate race courses are set at a pre-determined location around town. The routes are known only to certain Parks and Recreation staff and volunteer course-setting wizards. While the Munchkin and Farm Leagues usually stay on heavily-used trails, the Lightning League is a different story. Lightning courses have been known to test your resolve.
-
Munchkin League (1 - 3K): Best for kids and kids at heart.
-
Farm League (3 - 10K): Best for recreational runners.
-
Lightning League (4 - 12K): Best for competitive runners.
Virtual Races
This year, we are no longer offering a virtual race option. We are ready to transition to a virtual race in case of a complete event cancellation due to public health concerns or similar reasons.
