Mayor Dave Bronson Forms Southcentral Mayors' Energy Coalition

​ANCHORAGE, AK — Today, Mayor Dave Bronson announced the formation of the Southcentral Mayors' Energy Coalition. This coalition, consisting of mayors from communities across the region, will consider the energy needs of Southcentral Alaska and explore options to meet those needs, while assessing costs and the availability of natural resources.

The primary goal of the coalition is to be a voice for local governments and maintain close communication with the communities across the region, utility companies, and lawmakers as it works together to address the natural gas production shortage.

The Southcentral Mayors' Energy Coalition brings together a diverse group of leaders, with Mayor Dave Bronson serving as the chair. The coalition includes:

Edna DeVries, Mat-Su Borough Mayor
Glenda Ledford, Mayor of Wasilla 
Steve Carrington, Mayor of Palmer
Paul Whitney, Mayor of Soldotna
Brian Gabriel, Mayor of Kenai
Ken Castner, Mayor of Homer
Sue McClure, Mayor of Seward
Dave Dickason, Mayor of Whittier (invited)
Carter Cole, Mayor of Houston (invited)

Mayor Dave Bronson expressed his commitment to fostering collaboration among Southcentral mayors and leveraging collective expertise to formulate effective strategies. "The Southcentral Mayors' Energy Coalition is a testament to our shared dedication to securing a reliable and sustainable energy future for Alaska. By working together, we can explore innovative solutions that align with our economic priorities," said Mayor Bronson.

The Southcentral Mayors' Energy Coalition will convene for its first formal meeting in mid-January following the start of the legislative session in Juneau.
