this template.
Artwork Guidelines
What size/design area should I use?The design area is a flag-shaped sign at the top of each bus stop, measuring 18" tall on the left side, 18" long, and 15.25" tall on the right side. You can download the template
here.

What elements must my design include?
Each design must feature either the words "People Mover" or a recognizable, artistic element inspired by the logo - such as the bus shape, red heart or the word "Stop."
Do I need to use People Mover's brand colors?
No. While route colors are red, blue, green and gold, artists are not required to use them.
What file formats are accepted for submission?
Designs may be submitted in JPEG or PDF format. Please make sure your file is clearly legible and does not exceed 10MB in size.
Can I use AI-generated artwork in my submission?
All submissions must be original works created by the artist. While you may use digital tools as part of your creative process, AI-generated art that is not substantially created or modified by the artist is not
allowed. The intent of this project is to showcase authentic, human creativity rooted in Anchorage's culture and community. If you use digital media, please ensure that your design clearly reflects your own
artistic vision, style and decision-making.
Selection Process
How will submissions be reviewed?
- Phase I: Panelists review all submissions and select their top three. The three designs with the most support move forward.
- Phase II: Finalists each receive $1,000 to develop full designs.
- Phase III: Panelists score final designs using a rubric that considers craftsmanship, originality, creativity, required elements, and Anchorage cultural connection.
Who are the panelists?
The panel is made up of individuals representing a range of perspectives, including public art, museums, education, practicing artists and community leadership. This mix ensures the selection process reflects
both professional expertise and community voice. Panelists will include representatives from public art institutions, artists, educators, and community leaders. Their role is to review submissions and
select a design that is meaningful, impactful, and reflective of Anchorage's identity, traditions, and heritage.
What is the prize?
The final selected artist will receive an additional $4,000 award, and their design will be installed on 680 bus stop signs across Anchorage in Spring 2026.
