Wetlands General Permit

This page last updated 2026-4-15

As of April 30, 2021, the Municipality of Anchorage no longer issues General Permits on behalf of the Army Corps of Engineers for wetland fill projects in “C” wetlands. The Corps of Engineers did not reauthorize the Anchorage General Permits.

The Municipality does still have an obligation to permit wetlands as required by the adopted Anchorage Wetlands Management Plan. All development projects touching wetlands mapped in the Anchorage Wetlands Management Plan will require a Municipal permit.

Permit form available here:Wetland Permit7.2025.pdf

All development projects located in wetlands determined to be waters of the United States throughout the Municipality must go to the Corps of Engineers for an authorization to place fill. Contact the Corps of Engineers: By Phone: (907) 753-2712 (ask for an Anchorage area project manager) or through the Corps of Engineers Permitting website: https://www.poa.usace.army.mil/Missions/Regulatory/Permitting-Section-Homepage/.
