This program​ outlines what planning activities and priorities will be worked on in a metropolitan area for two years. It includes details about what the work involves, who will do it, how long it will take, how much it will cost, and where the money will come from. It is officially called the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP)​ in the federal planning process.​

Tasks are grouped into ‘Work Elements’ in the following categories: 

100: Plans and Programs
Planning the big-picture projects and strategies for AMATS.

200: Subarea and Special Studies
Taking a closer look at specific areas or topics that need extra attention.

300: Air Quality
Monitoring project impacts on the air we breathe.

400: Data and Modeling
Collecting and analyzing data to help make smart planning decisions.

500: Program Administration and Public Involvement
Managing the planning process and making sure the public has a voice.

600: Public Transportation
Planning for improving bus service and other transit options.
