Municipality of Anchorage to host Memorial Day remembrance ceremony

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) invites the public to a free one-hour Memorial Day Ceremony to honor and commemorate the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in devotion to liberty, freedom and democracy.

WHAT:           Memorial Day Ceremony

WHEN:           Monday, May 28, 2018, 9:30 a.m.

WHERE:        Delaney Park Strip memorial, 9th and I Street

 

The Anchorage Remembers ceremony will include the laying of wreaths to honor the fallen. Speakers include Mayor Ethan Berkowitz and Air Force Lt. Gen. Ken Wilsbach, commander of the Alaskan Command and 11th Air Force, and top-ranking military officer in Alaska. The MOA Military & Veterans Affairs Commission will pay special tribute to a veteran-and-wife team that volunteers for Fisher House Alaska.
