Mayor's Office

1/7/2021

ANCHORAGE – Today, the Municipality of Anchorage Health Department (AHD), Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) announced a mass COVID-19 Point of Dispensing (POD) vaccination clinic in the municipality for Alaskans 65 and older, health care workers, long-term care facility residents and staff, and EMS who meet certain criteria and are eligible for the vaccine (Phase 1a and Phase 1b, Tier 1). The ADA-accessible POD will be at the Alaska Airlines Center, 3550 Providence Drive.

Vaccinations at this POD will take place Saturday, January 9 (200 appointments), Sunday, January 10 (800 appointments), and Tuesday, January 12 (800 appointments), from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. each day. Vaccine supply remains limited. If more vaccine becomes available, this POD may be open on future dates. The Municipality is planning other mass PODs and working to make more appointments available at current sites.

The POD will open for pre-scheduled appointments only. Walk-in vaccinations will not be available. Appointment sign up will begin today, January 7, 2021, at 6:00 P.M. at covidvax.alaska.gov. If vaccination appointments fill up, a waitlist will be collected. If you are on the waitlist for a different clinic, the waitlist does not roll over. Please sign up for an open appointment if available. This flyer describes the online scheduling process.

If you know of a senior or someone who is eligible for vaccine, please offer them help. We're all in this together. Our goal as a community and state is to get vaccine out quickly and equitably across the state, with eligibility going first, while vaccine is limited, to those most at risk and vulnerable to severe illness and death.

To see a full list of who is eligible to receive the vaccine, visit covidvax.alaska.gov. Guidelines for future groups are still being determined. Learn more about the process for guidelines and how to participate at the Alaska Vaccine Allocation Advisory Committee information page.

Health care providers (clinics, pharmacies, and hospitals) can help get vaccine distributed in our community by signing up to become a COVID-19 Vaccine provider.
