MoA and DOT to coordinate snowplow efforts

Anchorage, AK – Today, Mayor Dave Bronson announced that the city is assisting the State of Alaska Department of Transportation (DOT) with snowplow operations in Anchorage.

City Maintenance and Operations crews finished clearing all arterial and collector roads owned by the city at noon on Thursday, November 10. Efforts have since shifted to residential areas.

Some city crews have already begun clearing State roads in coordination with ADOT. These roads include:

Abbott from Lake Otis to O'Malley; O'Malley from Old Seward to Abbott; Huffman from Old Seward to Birch; DeArmoun from Old Seward to Hillside Drive; Hillside Drive from DeArmoun to O'Malley. city graders are on site now and have started plowing. MOA Street Maintenance Manager Paul Vanlandingham expects these plowing efforts to be completed in approximately 8 hours.

Additional DOT roads to be cleared by MOA include Dimond to Sandlewood; Jewel Lake road from International to Dimond; Raspberry road from Sand Lake to Raspberry Drive, and Dimond from Sandlewood to Arctic.  Work on these roads by city crews will begin this afternoon, or in some cases this evening to avoid traffic.
