Mayor Berkowitz Welcomes New APD Chief Justin Doll

ANCHORAGE – Today Mayor Ethan Berkowitz welcomes new Anchorage Police Department Chief Justin Doll, taking the reins from retiring Chief Chris Tolley.

“Thank you to Chief Tolley for leading the rebuilding effort at APD. Thanks to him we have improved staffing levels and morale which honors the culture of service,” stated Mayor Berkowitz. “I look forward to working with Chief Doll to implement more of the best policies to make Anchorage a safer community and continue to foster the pride and confidence we have in our Department.” 

Chief Doll has been with APD since 1996, and has served in a variety of rolls including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Academy Instructor, Motorcycle Officer, Traffic Unit Supervisor, SWAT Team Member, Bomb Technician, Patrol Shift Commander, and Commander of the Homicide and Robbery/Assault Detective Units. He served most recently as the Crime Suppressions Division Commander overseeing the Community Action Policing Team, School Resource Officers, SWAT Team, Bomb Squad, K9 Unit, Traffic Unit, Community Relations Unit, Task Force Officers, and the Impaired Driving Unit. 

“I want to thank Mayor Berkowitz for the opportunity to lead the department and continue to serve the people of Anchorage,” said Chief Doll. “I'm looking forward to using data and proactive policing to enhance our relationship with the community and keep Anchorage safe.”
