​​​Youth Climate Action Fund Micro-Grant Program

The Municipality of Anchorage is proud to be one of the 300 communities worldwide to receive funding from the Youth Climate Action Fund in 2026, sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies. This funding allows the MOA to support youth-driven climate action.

Young people in the MOA, ages 15 to 24, can apply for microgrants to support climate driven projects in our community. The program’s goal is to support creative and innovative projects at the local level, led by young people in our community.

Program support is provided by the Alaska Conservation Foundation and many more community organizations.

​Opening August 24, 2026 - Closing October 18, 2026

If you're 15–24, and ready to be a leader in addressing our community’s climate challenges, we want to hear from you. We're looking for proposals that address the climate challenges arising from what makes the Municipality of Anchorage unique. We encourage projects focusing on the environmental conditions and needs shaped by that uniqueness.

Projects must align with four priorities outlined in the MOA’s 2019 Climate Action Plan:

  • Energy for buildings and transportation
  • Consumption and waste
  • Food systems
  • Urban forests and water sheds

The total funding for microgrants is $40,000. Projects can receive up to $1,000 to $5,000 in microgrants to support project activities and actions that support climate issues in our community. Applicants are not required to have any previous grant writing experience.

SAVE THE DATE: September 17, 2026, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Q&A session for potential project applicants and co-sponsors. Ask questions about your project idea or about the program/application process and find potential co-sponsors!​​

​Call for Non-Profit Partners​

Non-profit organizations, your partnership with youths who want to make a difference is needed!

Youth grant applicants need sponsors to be eligible for the grant. Grant awards can only be disbursed to eligible non-profit organizations.
