Featured Project - May 2026 AO 2026-62 - Proposed New Public Safety Commission Proposed by Assembly Members Anna Brawley, Kameron Perez-Verdia, and Former Member Felix RiveraThis month, visit CivicAnchor at Loussac Library to learn more and weigh in on AO 2026-62, an ordinance to establish a new Anchorage Public Safety Commission. TLDR?The former Public Safety Advisory Commission sunset in 2024. In 2025, Assembly Members Felix Rivera, Kameron Perez-Verdia and Anna Brawley convened a Task Force to Reimagine the Public Safety Advisory Commission. Members of the community spent six months exploring the community's role in public safety, considered strategies for community engagement, and developed recommendations for the Anchorage Assembly and Mayor to consider. In April 2026, the Assembly sponsors introduced AO 2026-62, an ordinance to establish a new commission building on the year-long effort to strengthen public engagement, transparency, and dialogue around public safety. The proposed ordinance is now on the table, and your feedback and participation in this process is welcome.
