Introducing aluminum can recycling at Girdwood Transfer Station!

Recycling Rules:

Make sure to rinse cans before bringing them in. This helps us reduce the amount of wildlife attracted to the site.
Space is limited at the transfer station. Make sure you do not block the entrance or exit to the facility
If the dumpster is full do not leave any cans on the ground around the dumpster.

Girdwood Transfer Station Hours:

Monday, and Thursday-Saturday: 9:30 – 5:00 (Closed for lunch 12:30-1)
CLOSED Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

SWS operates two wood lots:

Anchorage Regional Wood Lot

15500 Eagle River Loop Road (off the Hiland Road exit off the Glenn Highway).

November through April

May through October

Monday-Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00 pm. Disposal fee applies
Friday & Saturday, 8:00am to 5:00 pm. FREE DISPOSAL of wood waste

Across the street on E 56th. Entrance is located just East of the cold weather shelter. Open May 1-October 31.

Lithium Battery Disposal Update:
