Property Appraisal Division

The Property Appraisal Division, headed by the Municipal Assessor, is charged with locating, identifying and valuing all taxable real property and personal property within the Municipality in order to provide a fair and equitable basis for taxation.   We are required to make an independent estimate of value each year and to visit each property at least once every six years.

The Property Appraisal Division maintains a description of approximately 100,000 parcels of real property and 10,000 accounts of personal property totaling $29.3 billion in 2007. We also process and track property exemptions, and maintain maps showing the ownership and tax districts for the entire Municipality of Anchorage. We are a reliable source of information regarding valuation, ownership and a description of the property.

Public information regarding assessed values and other assessment data is available to "walk-in" customers at our front counter on the third floor of City Hall and through this website.
