NOTICE OF MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY PUBLIC HEARINGS:

The Assembly of the Municipality of Anchorage will hold a public hearing on the following legislation at the regular meeting of May 12, 2026.  The public hearing portion of the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and is held in the Assembly Chambers, Z.J. Loussac Library, 3600 Denali: ​

Ordinance No. AO 2026-47, an ordinance amending the Anchorage 2040 Land Use Plan, Land Use Plan Map, to change the classification of approximately 282.3 acres of land from large-lot residential, single-family and two-family, compact mixed residential-low, compact mixed residential-medium, and urban residential-high to compact mixed residential-low, urban residential-high, and park or natural area for the parcels in the Anchorage Bowl, as depicted in Exhibit A. (Planning and Zoning Commission Case No. 2025-0146), Planning Department.​

How to Testify: The Assembly receives public comments during Audience Participation, as well as public testimony on all open public hearing items.

​On January 14, 2021, the Anchorage Assembly approved ordinance AO 2020-137(S), which established government-to-government relations between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Sovereign Native Village of Eklutna. This ordinance states that at least once a year, the MOA’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, in consultation with the Native Village of Eklutna and other tribal leaders and tribal organizations as appropriate, shall provide a training to municipal employees on the history and legal status of Tribes within Alaska and the municipality, and on issues of concern to tribes.​

 

Attendance is optional for municipal employees, but space is limited. RSVP today and join us in the Wilda Marston Theater at Z.J. Loussac Library:  August 26th at 10am (doors open at 9:30am). We are also proud to invite you to the groundbreaking ceremony for the Providence Crisis Stabilization Center on Monday, Aug. 28 at 8 a.m. We are one major step closer to opening our doors to serve Alaskans in crisis. After months of planning, design, and stakeholder engagement, permits are in hand and Providence is beginning demolition of the east wing of the Providence Region Building to make way for the Crisis Stabilization Center and Behavioral Health Urgent Care. Together, they will provide innovative, behavioral health-led, trauma-informed behavioral health care. Alaskans needing mental health and substance use disorder treatment and support will have access to rapid connections, stabilization, treatment, and discharge planning in one location. Doors will open and patients are anticipated to be welcomed in mid-2024. Additional information is attached.

 

We are thrilled to be at the stage to be preparing for construction and designing the recuperative and clinical spaces. We welcome all of you to share in the celebration and thank you for your ongoing commitment to improving access to behavioral health services.
