The unveiling of What's on the Horizon at Resolution Park features Indigenous place names of mountains and natural areas.
March 22, 5 pm – Unveiling What's on the Horizon at Resolution Park Downtown, 320 L Street
- Welcome from Aaron Leggett, President, Native Village of Eklutna & Senior Curator, Alaska History and Indigenous Culture, Anchorage Museum.
Anchorage Museum was a collaborating organization for What's on the Horizon, with funding through the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Ellen Devine, graphic designer at Anchorage Parks and Recreation designed the panel, and translations were provided by Aaron Leggett and James (Jim) Fall, cultural anthropologist and co-author of Shem Pete's Alaska, an ethnogeography of 1000 Alaska Native place names in the Upper Cook Inlet area.
Please note there is no parking at this park, known for its statue of British explorer Captain James Cook.
