As a resident living in the vicinity of the proposed location in this case, I highly object to any approvals for a special land use permits for marijuana retail, or anything related to the sort. This business has zero benefits to the local family neighborhood surrounding it. Why does anyone believe it is a good idea to put a marijuana shop right next to a children's park? Right next to family residential homes? Across the street from a behavioral mental health clinic? Within walking distance of a junior high school? This business will exist for the sole purpose of trying to make profits providing a service that is detrimental to its surrounding location. Why are they targeting a family neighborhood with a nearby school? It is unacceptable. I imagine they may see this location as desirable due to its extremely close proximity to a public transportation (a bus stop). Additionally, there are quite a few homeless folks in this area who will undoubtedly use the surrounding public family areas (children's park and walking path along Chester Creek) to smoke marijuana being sold at this proposed location, making it'll less safe for the families who utilize these areas. There is already one marijuana shop down the road on Muldoon. There is ZERO NEED OR BENEFIT for a marijuana shop for those living in the proposed zone.
