| I am a resident of Woodside East and am a regular user of the Chester Creenbelt. The part of the Master Plan that concerns me th most is the possible improvement of the pioneer trail that skirts Hillstrand Pond (p. 42). The Hillstrand Pond and its vicinity are a major wildlife locus that moose, bears, lynx, otters, weasels, and other wildlife including numerous avian species historically have used. Formalizing he trail in any way would be a major intrusion. Increased pedestrian traffic would give way to bicyclists using it that could possibly morph into a Single Track. Singe Tracks have proliferated through the Anchorage Greenbelt system denigrating habitat and inviting ever-increasing intensive use t include unenforced motorized.. A skate park in the vicinity (p. 54) would be even a worst intrusion inviting all sorts of impacts including congestion, trash, and noise that will spill off into the surrounding neighborhoods including mine.
