| Jerry Weaver, Director Community Development 4700 Elmore Road Anchorage, AK 99501 July 18, 2013 Dear Mr. Weaver, Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. (ADP) is private not-for-profit corporation charged with managing the Downtown Improvement District (DID) in Anchorage, Alaska. Our mission is to keep downtown Anchorage clean, safe, and vital. This letter comes late, but we would like to encourage approval of Case No. 2013-102, an Administrative Site Plan Review for Fat Ptarmigan Management, LLC dba Fat Ptarmigan Wood Fired Pizza, at 441 W. 5th Avenue. We’ve had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Chef Guy Conley (owner-representative) through operation of their other restaurant Ginger, and firmly believe their new endeavor satisfies the area conditions for land use by licensed premises contained within AMC 21.50.020, the general standards for conditional use approval: 1) Fat Ptarmigan Wood Fired Pizza furthers the goals and policies of the Anchorage Downtown Comprehensive Plan and Anchorage 2020 – Anchorage Bowl Comprehensive Plan; 2) Conforms to the standards for use in and regulations promulgated under this title; 3) Is compatible with existing and planned land uses in the surrounding neighborhood and with the intent of its downtown district (pg. 29 Downtown Comp Plan); and 4) Will not have a permanent negative impact on: a. the pedestrian and vehicular traffic circulation and safety; b. the demand for and availability of public services and facilities; c. noise, air, water or other forms of environmental pollution; or d. the maintenance of compatible and efficient development patterns and land use intensities. ADP recommends approval of Case No. 2013-102, the Administrative Site Plan Review per AMC 21.50.500 for Fat Ptarmigan Wood Fired Pizza, a restaurant eating place serving beer and wine in the B-2A (Central business core) District located at Block 43, Lot 7. Sincerely, Christopher M. Schutte Executive Director Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. CC: Paul Nangle, Downtown Community Council | |
