| I participated in two of the three CCENA public meetings this summer and testified at the October Parks and Recreation Commission meeting in support of the Master Plan formulated by Great Land Trust based on the public input. The Master Plan affords public access for the quiet enjoyment of nature and wildlife in perpetuity, and with minimal development thereby protecting the sensitive habitats in CCENA. I am concerned by the late in the game input by city employees Lori Schanche (Public Works) and Thede Tobish (community Development) requesting amendments to the Master Plan to accommodate a link with a future coastal trail (extension) and making trails wide, paved multi-use trails similar to the existing coastal trail. Where were Ms. Schanche and Mr. Tobish during the public process this summer?? This vision for CCENA is totally contrary to the proposed Master Plan, which is based on public input, and as I understand it, a coastal trail extension through CCENA could result in revocation of the conservation easement. I urge the Planning and Zoning Commission to approve the Master Plan without amendment. | |
