Myself and all adjoining property owners I have spoken to will be opposing this rezoning and the request for conditional use application filed concurrently. This is a strictly residential area with a small road system. It cannot survive commercial activites, no matter how light. The neighbood appreciates the work of the Lion's Club and has tolerated the food distributions previously. The food distributions occurred one Saturday a month and we all tolerated the traffic as one would a large garage sale. However, as we understand the new site plan, it is inevitable that traffic will increase dramatically. There is no current plan for adequate onsite parking. The Lions want to also build a club. Rezoning would leave open the possibility of them getting a liquor license. We stand opposed to even the potential of an alcohol serving club within the confines of our neighborhood. The single best thing for any community is owner-occupied homes. We have that now, surrounding these lots, with homeowners working diligently to improve their homes. The roads are small and quiet. These lots requested to be rezoned are deep within our neighborhood and we will strongly and actively opposing rezoning.
