| I live just west of the area and I very strongly protest the proposed re-zoning of the area to Heavy Industry. Heavy Industry is a totally inappropriate use for the area. If the city wishes to have the downtown area grow to the east the appropriate use of this area is park or a residential area, not Heavy Industry, which would not only detract from the grown to the downtown area to the east but greatly detract from the value of the adjoining property. This re-zoning should be soundly rejected. President Crawford Park Condominium Association 140 Eagle St. | |

| As the owner of a home just down the street (229 Denali), we strongly oppose the conversion of 10 acres of nearby "park" land into HEAVY INDUSTRIAL classification. This will greatly detract from the neighborhood and impact the value of our property. While we have no opposition to heavy industrial uses IN THE PROPER PLACE, having this buffer next to our property was a material factor when puchasing the home and we respectfully request that our neighbors "play by the rules" rather than change them to make this property more valuable at the expense of the neighbors. If everyone can have an exception, why hsve zoning in the first place? Do zoning restrictions not apply simply because the city owns this property? As a side note, I am also disturbed that no explanation or staff report is available, so who knows what the city has up its sleeve on this one. Please give the public some opportunity for KNOWLEDGEABLE input before removing the zoning protection and exposing neighbors to such a large infringement. A parcel of this size, in this area, sets the tone of the neighborhood. Thank you. Shane Osowski | |
