| My concern is that the new park service facility will not be friendly at the pedestrian level. Many newer buildings in this part of downtown (example: Office Depot and FBI Building)are big warehouse type buildings and not condusive to a downtown that includes residents. As a downtown resident who walks by the proposed National Park Service site twice daily, I would like to see that property utilized in such a way as to benefit downtown workers and residents. Allowing a warehouse for vehicle storage on that site will aid to the decline of downtown unless measures are taken to enliven the pedestrian level. Regularly revolving Park Service displays at the pedestrian level, viewable from the sidewalk, would be a wonderful solution. Thank you very much for the opportunity to comment. | |

| I am concerned that the city would allow property that brings in approximately $30,000 annually in property taxes to go off the tax roles as could be the case if a federal agency like the National Park Service is the sole property owner. Much of downtown property is not on the tax roles due to the status of the owner (religous, state, city). This puts a burden on the rest of the downtown property owners that should be addressed. | |
