LIMITATIONS ON MEMORIAL SIZE AND WEIGHT FOR INDIVIDUAL GRAVES

All graves shall have a permanent grave marker installed within six months of the burial, but no later than the following spring.  All permanent grave markers shall be made of metal or natural stone.  All markers shall have either raised or engraved letters of at least one-quarter inch (1/4") in depth/thickness.

  1. Maximum height, including base: 60 inches.
  2. Maximum length, width and depth of single grave base: 36" x 18" x 8".
  3. Maximum length, width and depth of a marker base to identify two side by side graves: 60" x 18" x 8"
  4. Maximum weight of monument, including base: 1,500 pounds.
  5. Maximum weight of monument to identify two graves: 2,500 pounds.
  6. The minimum marker size is 9" x 5"

CROSSES.  A traditional wooden religious symbol, such as a Christian cross, Orthodox cross, a Star of David, or other religious or secular symbolic icon of no more than 60 inches tall and 36 inches wide, white in color or natural finish and in good repair may be placed.  Wooden markers of any type are not to be used in lieu of permanent memorials.  Wooden crosses should be made with pressure treated materials and will be installed directly into the earth without any foundation.  Softer wood will degrade faster than pressure treated and painted.  Approximately 2 feet of the cross will be below ground for proper stability, therefore a 5 foot cross should have a 7 foot post.  A 3 foot cross should have a 5 foot post.
