Trail Advisory Group

Anchorage Trails Advisory Group

Parks & Recreation, along with the BLM, currently host the Far North Bicentennial Park (FNBP) User’s Group Trails Committee.   This group exists specific to FNBP is a forum that addresses trail related issues and conflicts within FNBP.  The FNBP Trails Committee has proven to be a successful forum for trail users to participate in a process to resolve differences and find common ground. The Department recognizes the significant efforts of the FNBP Trails Committee members and has the desire to expand this successful model and elevate its function to an Anchorage Trails Advisory Group.  The Anchorage Parks & Recreation Commission passed a resolution in March of 2007, establishing this citywide Trails Advisory Group.

The Trails Advisory Group will report to the Parks and Recreation Commission.   The Group’s purpose will be to guide the development of soft-surface trail projects, trail maintenance and funding.  Membership will include representatives from multiple user groups, trail advocates, and one member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, all of whom will have a broad perspective on trail use within the Anchorage Bowl.  Please review the Anchorage Trails Advisory Group Policy for a more detailed description the group’s composition, roles and responsibilities.
