This introductory course is designed to help you develop a green thumb and create a thriving indoor garden. Learn the fundamentals of houseplant care, from choosing the right plants for your space to mastering essential care routines. Whether you're a seasoned plant lover or just starting out, you'll gain practical tips, troubleshooting advice, and plenty of inspiration to create a healthy, vibrant indoor oasis. Participants will take home a plant start from the Municipality’s Mann Leiser Greenhouse!

Houseplants 102: Dealing​ with Your Success​

In Part 2, we’ll dive into the best ways to transplant your houseplants when they outgrow their pots, learn how to regulate temperature and humidity, determine the right lighting, and improve airflow to keep your plants strong while preventing mold and pests. With a little care, you can create a happy, thriving space for both you and your plants! Participants will get to take home a plant start from the Municipality’s Mann Leiser Greenhouse.

Bonsai!

Discover the art of bonsai in this hands-on workshop led by longtime florist Paul Marmora, past president of the Cook Inlet Bonsai Study Group. In this two-hour class, you'll learn the fundamentals of bonsai care and design while working with your own miniature tree. All materials, including trees, are provided, and you'll leave with both a beautiful bonsai and the skills to continue growing your expertise at home.The class fee includes all materials needed to create and take home your new bonsai.
