In 2024 Merrill Field was identified as 4th in the nation for based aircraft, so that means there may be a waiting list for your preferred tie down parking spot.  So, familiarize yourself with our airport and tie down areas and determine your needs.

Transient Aircraft Parking Locations

Merrill Field has partnered with ParkMobile to expedite your transient tiedown payment process.  Of course, we still offer paper forms and accept checks, cash, and credit cards.  But now you can check-in using a QR Code right at the ramp!  Merrill Field strives to make your stay here as pleasant as possible.

For your convenience, Merrill Field Airport has seven (7) transient aircraft parking aprons.  To provide a sense of uniformity with the adjoining taxiways and to easily identify the apron locations, the transient parking apron names are as follows:

  • Alpha Transient (9 spaces);  located at the base of the ATCT tower.  Register and pay at the new Pilot Shelter located at the east end of transient apron.
  • Charlie Transient (18 spaces, with 11 on short term lease);  located south of the Airport Manager's Office.  Register and pay in the lobby of the Airport Manager's Office (old control tower). Marked with Green Cones.
  • Charlie South Transient (5 spaces)
  • Campground Transient (11 spaces);  located on the east end of Taxiway Quebec.  Register and pay at the Pilot Shelter located at the north end of transient apron.
  • Quebec Transient (6 spaces);  located south of the intersection of T/W G and T/W Q (at the east end of Quebec 3 parking apron along the vehicle parking fence line).  Register and pay in the lobby of the Airport Manager's Office.
  • Whiskey Transient (5 spaces);  located south of runway 5/23 which is the Gravel/Ski Runway.  Register and pay at the Pilot Shelter located at the east end of the vehicle parking lot (west end of transient apron).

Please become familiar with the transient apron locations and use the appropriate name when communicating with ground control.
