If you need an interpreter, please tell us. We provide interpreter services for Municipal business, including vehicle impounds, at no cost to you.

​Call our office at (907) 343-4575 or emailcivilimpounds@muni.org  during our normal business hours.  If you reach our voicemail please leave your name, number and vehicle license plate or last 6 digits of the VIN number. We will return your call as soon as possible. Please note our phone hours begin at 12:00pm. Prior to this, we are working hard to process information from APD about impounded vehicles.

Check if your vehicle is in the impound lot: 

​Vehicles impounded through our office are physically located at Vulcan Towing & Recovery. They have a helpful tool which tracks the vehicles located in their lot. To see if your vehicle is in Vulcan’s yard, enter the vehicle’s license plate or VIN number and select “Search Vehicles”


To Retrieve a Vehicle, you must:  

    • be a registered owner -Only a registered owner will have options and can retrieve the vehicle. TYou must have documentation from the Department of Motor Vehicles reflecting you are the registered owner. Proof of ownership documents include a vehicle title or registration (in certain scenarios, an application might be accepted.)   
    • ​the registered owner must first contact our office - We will explain your options and Municipal fees, then prepare the necessary paperwork for you to retrieve your vehicle.  Then, you must call Vulcan Towing at (907) 349-8697 to schedule an appointment for retrieval and find out what Vulcan's fees are. 
    • Title to the vehicle andvehicle'scurrent registration (if you have neither, you will first have to contact the DMV), 
    • current proof of insurance,which can be show electronically, 
    • a government-issued photo I.D.,  
    • legally licensed driver

    • Submit a copy of your court judgment 
    • Include the vehicle license plate number
