What do I need to apply?

  • One completed application form for an alcohol special land use permit
  • One completed Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office application
  • Site plan, asbuilt, or plot plan of the property

Do I need a professional to represent me?

  • Applications are submitted by both business owners on their own and by professionals on behalf of business owners.

How long will it take to get approval?

  • The application review period is approximately 60 days.

Who makes the decision on applications?

  • The Planning Director has decision-making authority for restaurant/eating place licenses, and the Anchorage Assembly decides other types of licenses (e.g. package store and beverage dispensary licenses).

  • Anchorage Municipal Code 21.03.040 Alcohol - Special Land Use Permit​ ​
  • Term: No renewal (See AMC 21.03.040C.8.)
  • Fee:  Base Fee of $1,180 plus following amount per square foot (sf):  
    • ​​​​​Beverage dispensary, Tourism, Outdoor Recreational Lodge, and Destination Resort Licenses (total with base fee not to exceed $4,720)  $3.00 / sf  
    • Club License (total with base fee not to exceed $4,720) $1.40 / sf  
    • Package Store License (total with base fee not to exceed $4,720) $1.80 / sf  
    • Sporting Activity or Event, Pub, and Fair (total with base fee not to exceed $4,720) $0.95 / sf  
    • Brewery, Winery, and Distillery Licenses (total with base fee not to exceed $4,720) $0.60 / sf  
    • ​For a golf course license or license with a golf endorsement, without regard to gross site area or square footage $3,540 flat fee ​​​
