​Local Landmark Register

The Anchorage Assembly created the Local Landmark Register in 2021 (AO No. 2021-032, As Amended). This established a public process for nominating Anchorage's unique and significant historic and cultural resources. Cultural and Historic resources can include buildings, other structures, sites, districts, landscapes, traditional cultural properties, objects, or travel routes.

• Establishment (AMC 2.40.060G.) - This section of code establishes the Local Landmark Register.
• Local Landmark Register - Code of Regulations - These regulations detail the approval process and criteria for nominating properties.
• Nomination Form - Fill out this form to nominate a site to the Local Landmark Register.​
• Director's Guidance for Nominations - This brochure provides an overview of how to complete the nomination form and what information is required, and the approval process. 

Local Landmarks

• The Alaska Native Heritage Center​ became the first site officially recognized as a Local Landmark in 2025. ​
