Today, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz issued the following statement:
“The Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) remains committed to fulfilling the obligations to build a new Department of Health and Human Services facility and New Student Transportation Facility for the Anchorage School District (ASD).
While we are still in the very early stages of this project, I’ve heard the concerns raised by Pete Petersen, Forrest Dunbar, and residents in the area, and recognize a bus facility in this location does not have the community support it needs. We will work with ASD to find an alternative location for the New Student Transportation facility.
I remain committed to bringing increased economic development to Anchorage in a way that supports our neighborhoods, and improves the qualities that makes Anchorage a great place to live.”
