ANCHORAGE – Mayor Ethan Berkowitz approved a Municipality of Anchorage policy and procedure promoting a healthier, more productive workplace, where all employees are treated with dignity and respect.

“Bullying can have devastating effects on health, morale, and productivity. We stand up to bullies on a playground and we won’t tolerate them at our workplaces,” stated Mayor Berkowitz.

Workplace bullying is intentional behavior that a reasonable person would find hostile, intimidating, offensive, or intended to create an abusive work environment. Municipal Policy and Procedure 40-36 expands on current Municipal policies for discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Examples of bullying include verbal abuse, threatening or intimidating behavior, or the sabotage of an employee’s ability to perform work.
