ANCHORAGE – Today, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz welcomes 19 new Anchorage Police officers and a new fire investigator to the Anchorage Police Department and Anchorage Fire Department teams.

“I thank these new officers and their families for their public service and commitment to a safer Anchorage,” said Mayor Berkowitz. “Every individual officer helps Anchorage get closer to our goal of 400 APD officers and a safer community.”

Graduates now enter field training where they will be paired with a senior officer to answer calls and patrol the streets. Upon completion of field training, the recruits begin normal patrol duties as assigned.

“We are proud of our 19 officers who have dedicated themselves to our community and this career,” said Anchorage Police Chief Tolley. “We look forward to adding their talent, skill and professionalism to this organization."

The graduation ceremony will occur at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium at 3 p.m., October 29, 2015. Community members and media are welcomed and encouraged to attend the event.
