​Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson, today, proclaimed January 9, 2022 as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in Anchorage. The full text of the proclamation can be read below: 

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Proclamation ​

WHEREAS, public safety and the preservation of law and order is the first and highest priority of the Municipality of Anchorage; and

WHEREAS, the dedicated, respected, and professional members of law enforcement throughout our city deserve to be recognized for their selfless service to the public; and

WHEREAS, the work done by law enforcement across Anchorage must be handled with courage, tact, integrity, honesty, and empathy towards those facing danger; and

WHEREAS, the bravery and commitment to the public that is required of law enforcement day in, and day out is both mentally and physically taxing; and

WHEREAS, the sacrifices made by both members of law enforcement and their families is immense; and

WHEREAS, it is right and honorable to dedicate a day for the members of law enforcement in Anchorage to be celebrated and lifted-up as the heroes they are, and to thank them for their work in keeping our city safe; and

WHEREAS, we recognize and support the brave members of our Anchorage Police Department, and the Alaska State Troopers, Airport Police, Park Rangers, Correctional Officers, and federal law enforcement officers who live in and serve the people of Anchorage.

Now THEREFORE, I Dave Bronson, MAYOR OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF ANCHORAGE, do hereby proclaim January 9, 2022, as:

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

In Anchorage and encourage the people of Anchorage to show their gratitude for the men and women behind the badge who put their lives on the line each day for the health and safety of our city.
