2015 Mayor’s Charity Ball Raises Over $190,000 to Anchorage Organizations

Anchorage International Film Festival, Challenge Alaska, Chugiak Youth Sports, and Beacon Hill selected as 2016 recipients

ANCHORAGE – Today, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz announced the Mayor’s Charity Ball raised over $190,000 to four local non-profits working to strengthen Anchorage. Anchorage Community Theatre received $44,576, Anchorage’s Promise received $47,460, Cook Inlet Soccer Club received $48,019, and YWCA received $53,657.

“Thank you to all the organizers, volunteers, participants, and benefactors of the 2015 Mayor’s Charity Ball, I hope the community will work just as hard for our deserving 2016 groups,” said Mayor Berkowitz.

Mayor Berkowitz and family also selected organizations for the 2016 Mayor’s Ball (which are chosen by random drawing); Anchorage International Film Festival, Challenge Alaska, Chugiak Youth Sports, and Beacon Hill.

“We are looking forward to another successful Ball and giving back to organizations that build a stronger Anchorage,” said Henry Penney Chair of the Mayor’s Charity Ball.

Over the last 20 years, the Mayor’s Charity Ball has donated over $3.2 million to local non-profits.
