Employee Spotlight

Dave Devlin joined the Municipality as a park ranger in 1982 and has been with us ever since. He currently serves as a Community Work Service Specialist, responsible for leading work service crews throughout the Municipality. Dave has developed a strong reputation for his exceptional quality of work with CWS crews.

Dave is retiring this year after more than 30 years of service with the Municipality and we wish him well in his subsequent endeavors.

NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS

Summer in Anchorage means endless days, outdoor recreation, and a busy and productive construction season. This summer lover 220 projects are breaking ground in the Anchorage bowl, ranging from trail upgrades, to park projects, street paving, power grid improvements, and enhancements to our drinking and waste water systems.

Phase one construction begins at Muldoon Town Square Park, bringing a long anticipated city center to East Anchorage. Bridges along the Coastal Trail will be replaced for safety and the South Anchorage Sports Park will receive much needed renovations. Many streets in Anchorage will see resurfacing projects, drainage enhancements, or improved sidewalks. Please be on the lookout for construction workers or minor changes in traffic patterns.

APD and AFD badges

Working hard to increase the number of officers, the Anchorage Police Department is graduating a new class of recruits May 12. This class graduates 17 officers that head to field training with experienced APD officers. The next full academy starts in June, and APD is currently recruiting for the December academy.
