During a Special Assembly Meeting today, the Anchorage Assembly approved (11-0) AR 2024-39(S), a resolution extending Mayor Bronson's emergency proclamation of a Cold Weather Sheltering Civil Emergency to February 13, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
AMC 3.80.080 establishes that emergency proclamations expire after 48 hours unless otherwise extended by the assembly. In addition to extending the term of the proclamation, AR 2024-39(S) requires the Administration submit weekly reports to the Assembly regarding measures taken in response to the emergency.
The Assembly also approved (11-0) EO 2024-1(S), an emergency ordinance to appropriate funds for labor, supplies and other expenditures needed to respond to the extreme cold weather not to exceed $200,000.
