Anchorage receives federal funds for highways, roads, trails and related improvements. We staff the Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions (AMATS), which is a city and state coordinated planning process to set priorities for spending these funds. We prepare the community's Long Range Transportation Plan, which is a tool to implement the comprehensive plan.

AMATS release for public review and comment on April 22, 2008 the Draft Anchorage CO/ SIP Maintenance Plan. Clink here for the draft Plan. AMATS Public Participation Plan Update

AMATS is updating Anchorage on the Move, a plan describing how to seek public involvement when planning and prioritizing federally-funded investments in area roads, public transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The AMATS Public Participation Plan will describe how best to engage stakeholders in dialog about decisions regarding transportation priorities and funding within the Municipality.
The public participation plan must be broad and connect with transportation providers and users, low-income families; people who speak languages other than English, and people who walk, bike, and use public transit.
