Temporary Speed Humps Request Procedure

Requesting a temporary speed hump is simple!
Just click here to send an e-mail, or call the Traffic Department at 343-8406, and provide the following information:
  • Requestor's name, phone number, and address
  • E-mail address and/or a fax number
  • Method you would like to receive a petition: i.e. mail, fax, pick-up, or e-mail
  • Name of street where you would like temporary speed humps installed

Temporary speed humps will be installed on a priority basis based on speed and volume of the identified roadways. Due to the overwhelming requests for temporary speed humps, requests under consideration will be limited to through streets - cul-de-sacs will not be considered. In adddition, temporary speed humps will be placed on roadways paved with asphalt paving only. Roadways which are chip sealed, Recycled Asphalt Paving, or gravel roads will not hold temporary speed humps in place and will cause damage to the roadway.

When a request is submitted to the Traffic Department, the requestor will be sent a petition form which will outline the area required to obtain homeowner signatures. The petition will ensure residents in the area are aware of the temporary speed hump request and are in favor of the installation of the devices. Consideration of temporary speed hump installation will proceed only if a minimum of 51% of the residents concur with their installation. While the requestor is pursuing the signature requirement, the Traffic Department will proceed with the collection of the speed and volume data on the subject roadway.

If you have any questions about the temporary speed hump installation process, please call the Traffic Department at 343-8406.
