SUMMER MAINTENANCE

Summer Maintenance Responsibilities:
The transition from Spring to Summer Maintenance is usually accomplished by the middle of May. The following are our major summer operations programs:

Asphalt Repair And Pothole Patching:
Asphalt repair is a very    important summer activity.
It consists of crack sealing,
Chip Sealing (20 miles per year), skin patching, pothole
patching, major repairs on main, collector and residential streets in the
Anchorage Roads & Drainage Service Area (ARDSA).

Repairs and Cleaning of Drainage Structures:
We have over 15,000 storm water drainage structures such as manholes, catch basins and Oil and Grease Separators (OGS).  We clean and maintain these structures to meet the requirements of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
