The mission of Street Maintenance is to preserve and maintain the community's investment in Municipal roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, bridges and related rights-of-way.
Street Maintenance maintains over 1,300 lane miles of roadway in the Anchorage Roads and Drainage Service Area, (ARDSA), click to see map.
Limited Road Service Area, (LRSA), click to see map, are located throughout the Anchorage hillside. Each LRSA has an elected Boards of Supervisors, responsible for the supervision and direction of road services and maintenance by local contractors. For additional information on LRSA, click here.
During the winter season, the right-of-way is reserved for snow storage. This area may extend seven feet or more beyond the road edge (click to access Winter Maintenance Page). Please click this web page for more information related to Right-Of-Way concepts and issues.
The goal of Street Maintenance is to remove snow from residential and arterial roadways within 72 hours of a snowfall.
