Sister Cities News
June Mayor Begich and Anchorage Sister Cities rededicated the
Anchorage Sister Cities Plaza located on the corner of 6th & H
Streets. New flags were displayed with the Chitose flag being
raised by Deputy Consul-General Takashi Yamamoto and
the Magadan flag raised by Magadan’s Vice-Mayor.
ASC Commissioners, family and friends supported the Mayor’s
Marathon. It was a cold and wet day but the Mile 23 Aid Station
was fully staffed and a big hit with the runners.
July Miss Anchorage and Sister City Commissioner Carol Carlson
traveled to Chitose, Japan to participate in the Chitose Sky & Beer Festival.
August Anchorage Sister Cities welcomed the Chitose exchange students
visiting Sand Lake Elementary and hosted an “ice cream social” for
the group and local families.
September Mayor Begich and a delegation from Anchorage plan to visit
Incheon, Korea for the dedication of the Anchorage Sister Cities
jade monument.
October Fall Harvest Festival will be held October 7, 2005,
6:00pm – 10:00pm at the 4th Avenue Theater.
