Incheon New Logo2 Incheon, Korea
With Pacific Rim interests in mind, Incheon, Korea (pop. 2.6 million) and Anchorage signed a joint Sister Cities agreement in 1986. Located on the beautiful west coast of the Korean peninsula 20 miles west of Seoul, Incheon is a historic town with many cultural relics.

While agriculture still thrives in the outskirts of Incheon, in recent years the city has made dramatic progress to become a diverse industrial center and a major international trade port in Asia.   Most recently, first phase of the Incheon International Airport was completed.  The new airport will be capable of handling 170,000 flights, 27 million passengers and 1.7 million tons of freight annually.  Whole construction is scheduled to be completed in 2020.

Looking to the future, the citizens of Incheon have undertaken ambitious building projects, such as a world class international airport to be completed by 2002, and a resort town for tourists.
