SISTER CITIES OUTREACH PROGRAM

The Municipality of Anchorage, and the Sister Cities Commission welcomes interest in our Outreach Program.   We encourage activities that support the mission of the Sister Cities Program which enables citizens to share friendships and goodwill, while fostering cooperation and mutual respect between communities of the world.   

The Outreach Program allows individuals or groups, through an association with the Sister Cities Commission and the Municipality of Anchorage,  to carry the good will and good wishes of the Anchorage Sister Cities program to events that commissioners may or may not be able to attend themselves.   Letters of association are given for a specific event or function, and are not considered long term agreements.  

This program is designed to be an outreach program of the Municipality of Anchorage.  While not an official representative of the Municipality, you will be representing our city as a citizen and community member.   Activities and behavior should be commensurate with that, and reflective of the community as a whole.  

If you are interested in the Outreach Program and wish to receive a letter of introduction for an event or program, please do the following: 

Forward a letter of interest to:        Sister Cities Commission
                                                 Attn: Nellen Budd, Mayors Office
                                                 PO Box 196619
                                                 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650. 

The letter should contain the following information:

 Your name or the name of your group.  A short bio or history of the group or individual, and your mission or purpose. 

 The name of the program or event you are participating in, the place and date of the event. 

 A description your interest in Sister Cities and how your participation in this program or event will directly benefit the Sister Cities Program

 After your participation in the event, a follow up letter will be required summarizing the event and your participation in it.   Please send it to the address listed above.

The Sister Cities Commission meets the last Wednesday of each month.  Your request will be considered at the next regular monthly meeting.   Please ensure enough time prior to your event for the request to be considered.   The Outreach Program is unable to fund grants or offer any monetary support at this time.
