Chester Creek flows from its headwaters high in the Chugach Mountains through the heart of the Anchorage Bowl and empties into Knik Arm under the Coastal Trail and railroad tracks by Westchester Lagoon. The Chester Creek greenbelt offers a unique experience for enjoying nature in the heart of urban Anchorage. Although no salmon fishing is allowed along Chester Creek, it is home to a small wild run of Coho Salmon.

Chester Creek recreational trails follow its greenbelt through central Anchorage and offer numerous winter and summer recreational activities including biking, running, walking, cross-country skiing, and many others. The last stop for Chester Creek is Westchester Lagoon, a man-made water body constructed in 1972. The lagoon area has become one of Anchorage’s most popular year-round recreation areas for ice-skating, Frisbee golf, Coastal Trail access, picnics, biking, and many other fun activities.
